New Pricing Structure and System Requirements
Deciding to upgrade software can be challenging. Whether it’s new features in the latest version or the need for enhanced performance, QuickBooks has a solution. While changes can be daunting, QuickBooks has maintained a familiar user experience, so jumping a few versions doesn’t mean starting from scratch.
QuickBooks Enhancements
QuickBooks retains much of the look and feel of earlier versions, but Intuit has continued to refine its flagship software with significant upgrades and a new subscription model. Be aware that if your PC is a few years old, you may need to upgrade your system for optimal performance. Additionally, new tools make it easier to import and manage bills, increasing efficiency in record-keeping.
Subscription Changes in Desktop QuickBooks
QuickBooks Desktop products are now only available via annual subscriptions. You’ll need to renew your subscription each year to continue using the software, as QuickBooks no longer supports one-time purchases. All Desktop versions, known as “Plus” versions, come with unlimited support, cloud backups, and yearly upgrades.
- QuickBooks Pro Plus : $399.99 per year for one user, plus $200 per additional user (up to three users).
- QuickBooks Premier Plus: $599.99 per year, with additional users costing $300 each (up to five users).
- QuickBooks Enterprise 24.0: Starting at $899 per year for single-user access, going up depending on the user count and features, supporting up to 40 users.
Please call if you’re considering a move to QuickBooks Enterprise, especially if your business is growing and outgrowing the Premier edition.
Easier Bill Entry Options
QuickBooks offers multiple bill entry automation options to reduce manual input and improve accuracy:
- Use the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app to snap and upload bill photos directly.
- Email PDF bills to a custom QuickBooks address ending in
@qbdesktopdocs.com. - Snap a photo of your bills and email them from your mobile device.
- Upload photos of bills directly from Google Drive.
These enhancements make bill entry faster, though occasional adjustments may be needed to fine-tune the captured data.
Boosted Performance for Large Files
With 64-bit processor compatibility, QuickBooks runs smoother, especially on larger company files. For those unsure of their system’s compatibility, click on the Windows Start menu, go to Control Panel > System and Security > System, to check whether your PC has a 32-bit or 64-bit processor.
Upgrade Only if Needed
Your current version of QuickBooks may work fine, so there’s no immediate need to upgrade.
